Selina’s craft world

Following our own Halloween tradition, DH and I carved some pumpkins and made grave yard cookies. Last year DH went for a non-traditional and I for a traditional jack-o-lantern. This year we switched. DH made a scary face and I did something with a bunny.

Snoopy supervised my work and had to make sure the bunny looks as close to him as possible. Not sure if he was pleased in the end, it’s always hard to tell with him.

The cupcakes turned out ok this year, but not as cool as last year. The photos were to big to upload to the gallery, so I will resize and do that later on. All photos of this Halloween can be found here. Enjoy!

I have been feeling very poorly lately that came down to a horrible headache/gums infection, so I am pretty cranky and sad. Anyway, I received a lovely award from Edda which I just had to post Thanks!! I am very touched that you thought of my blog for that award

Oh, and I changed my blog title as I added it before knowing a company had the same name and I did not want people to come here and think of a connection that does not exist.

I am too tired to be bothered to stitch or knit lately, the final thesis takes up all my engery.

I got hooked on the show over the last few weeks. It’s just so lovely to see all the places we had such a lovely time at. Definately a place to visit again …

Oh, and here’s the other show from the Berlin Zoo. I am not sure if it’s still on, as today they show the one of Stuttgart (which is about an hour away from here) but they do not seem to let you watch it online. Love the Stuttgart Zoo, though, once I am done with college we’ll go there and look

Sorry, no photos for you today. I was working on a model, which is about 77% done. It’s coming along nicely I also finally got my design software on this comp, so hooray

I made my brownies in another way today - with cacao powder rather than real chocolate. The result is .. well .. I am not sure if I like it or hate it The taste is fine. Not very sweet, but good. But since the dough was very pottery like, the inside is gooey - which I do not like  - but not in the most horrible way. Next time I will try to add a few spoons of this cacao and add about 50g less chocolate to melt. That should make it perfect

I also made a potatoe bread .. and that turned out very good I added the recipe to the Selina’s recipes - so check them out

Today was a better day. I am about 1/4 through with script I need to know by Friday in a week. So far so good. Hope I will pass them all. Grades do not matter anymore. Just getting it done and remove this giantic burden from me.

Here’s doggy’s progress. I decided to do 3 pages of script (which sums up to 18 as I printed it rather small) and then get to stitch one thread of floss. That worked pretty fine for today. Hope to get doggy done by the weekend .. on which I also plan to update Linabear Creations.

Wow, I can’t believe that I did not stitch for two whole days. After my comp was poorly and it giving too many problems, my parents volunteered to give me money for a new one if they can have the old one to do their work (their old desktop is horrible too). I got a nice Acer one with lots of space and a nicely webcam inside. Makes pretty nice photos, too.

We also had to clean to get our new fridge, which came today. Outside, it is pretty much the same size as the old one. The inside is much bigger than the old one, though, because all trays are in there and it does not have a freezer part. The old one is now turned off and the ice that was caused by the door no longer closing right is melting away. Makes quit a nice mess   Once it is done making a mess, I will clean it and put drinks and stuff in the turned off fridge.

And here, finally, the picture of my dog RR piece. I stitched a bit from the frame and I hope that I can finish this colour of the frame tomorrow and then move back onto doggy.

.. that’s what hubby and  I did this afternoon. It was rather warm for this time of the year and the sun was shining. We walked to a little lake nearby. It was partly frozen and looked very pretty. I was hoping to get a cable car in one of the shots, too, but that did not work out .. maybe next time …

Here’s my first progress photo for the dog afghan RR I organised on my fav cross stitch BB. It’s very fun to stitch, but due to not having all colours needed and to some problems with the colour key I did not get any further than that.

Eventually, I plan on making all those dogs into one afghan. Sadly, there are only nine patterns and I want an afghan bigger than a square. I will either have to re-stitch some dogs, but in different colours or add some printed fabrics as squares. Not sure yet.

Oh, I almost forgot!! I made brownies today, and maybe those who read regulary know that I had a hard time finding ones I actually like. Anway, I can happily say that I finally found my brownie! They’re wonderful and almost exactly like I want them to be. 

To celebrate this great found - and because it was planned one way or another anyway - I have added a section dedicated to my favourite recipes as add-on to my blog  Most of them were changed by me to either reduce or add ingredients, change heat or cooking time or whatever. I will add new recipes whenever I find them or have time to get the old ones up and running. Hope you will enjoy this new little feature.

I got to stitch some more on my Japanese box yesterday and today .. it’s coming along nicely

After my pants attack a few weeks ago, I now kindly got some more clothes - donated by mom and dad Got 3 new shirts/sweater sort of thing, underpants and two bras. It was after Christmas sale. We saved some big bucks. One item was 4 bucks from 20, another one 9 from 30 and another one 3 from 10!!

It’s been very cold lately - at least for me - and the frost made the trees and plants lovely white. I forgot my cam yesterday, but today I remembered before hubby and I went out.

.. is now done. It was my craft closet ever since we moved, but there was never enough space as it had no shelves inside. Hubby got the idea to get shelves for inside the closet so I spent my money on two shelf like thingys.

I had to spent a while to get everything in - more or less organized, but now it is all under control. My knitting stuff is on the left in the photo (aparently, since you see the yarn ;)) and the stitchy things are on the right. My crochet yarn is still in a moving box, but will make the big move sometime.
