Simple Cable Cardigan

Selina | Uncategorized | Wednesday, 30 July 2008

I can finally post about it, as the pattern became just now available :) I finished it in April. I love the pattern, but I am not too happy with the colour choice I did. Some almost solid color would have been better. Either way, it’s a lovely cardigan.

The end of the TdF 2008 …

Selina | spinning | Sunday, 27 July 2008

.. it has its moments. Some funny, some frustrating, some painful, some boring, some happy … but all in all a wonderful experience and inspiration. I did not meet my goal of finishing my 8oz of Merino, but I did 6 oz of it into beautiful and soft lace weight yarn and will finish spinning the last 2oz before I start knitting/spinning something new.

Generally, I am pretty proud of myself. I really spun lace weight and my yarn is getting more consistent.

Here’s the collage I made to honor the Tour:

TdeF - Next to last day

Selina | me, spinning | Saturday, 26 July 2008

Meaning that I will not reach my goal of spinning the 8oz I have :( Ah well. I am still proud of spinning and plying around 1500m of nicely, 2 plied yarn. Yay. So actually … it should be multiplied by 3, as I had to spin two singles and then ply them ;) Anyway, here’s my third skein that sadly still needs some more plying, but it should be done before the tour ends tomorrow.

Linabear's Day next to last day ;) Linabear's Day next to last day ;)

I also had my graduation yesterday, but still no diploma only a standard thing everyone else got to. I did not know one had to fill out a form in order to get it so I need to wait. Kind of upsetting, though, as I could have gotten it a while ago. No job in sight yet, either. Ah well.

TdeF - Day 19

Selina | spinning | Thursday, 24 July 2008

or whatever. I am somewhat messed up about the number of days as I did not take any rest days. Ah well. Either way, I spun around 5 of the 8 oz I had. I have my doubts I get it all done. Ah well.

Linabear's Day 19 Linabear's Day 19

I spent most of my day running around in school, filling out forms and whatever else. It will all pay off when tomorrow’s celebration is. I cannot wait. My toes still hurt from when I hit them.

I hope someone’s still reading this :)

Busy Bee

Selina | spinning | Monday, 21 July 2008

I have been a busy bee today, having missed so many days of the Tour de Fleece last week I just do not want to miss any more. I also went to my aunt to finalize her website.

I finished plying my two 1oz singles and got to hung it up in the garden.

And then I started my challenge - which changed from Cotton to Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Gwendolyn (brighter) and Geena (darker) kindly agreed on parting with some of their hair.

TdeF 2008 …

Selina | spinning | Saturday, 19 July 2008

… is going well. I spun over 1/2 oz today, so I am pretty proud of myself. This is over half on the second bobbin.

On slightly related news, I think I broke my toe(s) while trying to see Mr. Bunny. It hurts pretty much :(

So .. now I can talk about it, too ..

Selina | Bunny, Knitting | Saturday, 19 July 2008

.. Wollmeise Sock Yarn that is. Last Friday, I sat on the computer waiting for their shop to update and then grabbed some random colours. They feel nice and have nice, vibrant colours. I will say more once I actually used any of them. Apparently, Snoopy likes the red colour.

First out of four ..

Selina | Bunny, spinning | Thursday, 17 July 2008

That’s a long over-due photo of a skein I finished quite a while ago. It’s 45g and has 430ish meter length. I like it pretty much and cannot wait to knit with it .. once I finished all of the 8oz I have.

It’s been a while I showed a photo of Snoopy, so here goes two of them. They were taken yesterday while Snoopy checked out my spinning wheel. In the first one, he had his paws on the paddles, which was quite funny. He also tried to check out the bobbins and the wheel part itself. It was very funny. And then - after careful inspection - he decided to guard the wheel like a watch dog.

TdeF 2008 - Day 10

Selina | spinning | Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Actually, today is one of the resting days, but I did not get to rest. As I did not spin the last couple of days, I decided to spin more today. It was fun sitting next to Snoopy in the garden and spin :) The colours came out beautifully in this picture.

The frog yet to be named ..

Selina | Trips & Co | Tuesday, 15 July 2008

.. is still around. I wonder if he stays here or not. It sure would be sad if he’d decide to go away. Any name suggestions are welcome. We call him Mr. Grog. Today, we saw him in action catching a bee for lunch. He seemed pleased afterwards.

I received my new cell phone for re-newing my contract. It’s a rather decent phone with a nice camera, so I played a lot with that today. My dad also got a new one for re-newing his contract. And since he’s way, he took some photos and asked one of his workers to send them via MMS that he took from his room. Looks pretty neat there.

Most exciting thing today was …

Selina | Trips & Co | Saturday, 12 July 2008

… a frog in my parents pond. It took us all day to figure out what it was that kept jumping in the pond as it was so fast. Eventually we spotted it and here’s the proof:

and a little close up to see him better taken from the photo above, while he was resting his head on a leaf:

Weird day today

Selina | Knitting | Friday, 11 July 2008

Sure was weird and upsetting, but all turned out ok so I will just not post about it.

I did do some knitting today to relax, but I started the wrong project because I have to count like crazy and it’s so very fine! It’s coming along fine, but much slower than hoped. It’s a lace stole that might end up as Christmas gift.

Gerda Stole Day 1

Sorry about the photo quality. I forgot my camera at home once again .. but used my dad’s ultra awesome new cell phone .. the built in camera has even a flash - wow!

TdeF - Day 6

Selina | spinning | Thursday, 10 July 2008

Yay, finally something. I got to finish the singles and ply them today. I am very happy. It is 45g of yarn and has the amazing yardage of 478! Wow. No wonder I am spinning slower than a turtle with that thinness. I love my Traveller.

The singles looked like this:

And the yarn, pre-washing and winding like this:

TdeF - Day 5

Selina | spinning | Wednesday, 09 July 2008

Today was a busy day for me, so I did not get to do much crafty works. I did some spinning, but not too much. Hoping for tomorrow :) I finally want to finish my first two ounces!
