Goodbye apartment *waves*

Selina | Bunny, me, us | Saturday, 30 December 2006

Andy and I had another busy day. Poor us. Hope we soon get to relaxe in our new, wonderful home - which is still not done.

Anyway, when Andy finished with work, we got ready and drove to Karlsruhe. After eating, we got some money out for the landlords to put asside in case we break anything and then we went to the old apartment for the final cleaning. It was more removing tape, wash away colour and replace a bulb in the bathroom. I went to the landlady, we walked through there and she said everything was great (Hooray for Andy, my mom and myself working like crazy). We chatted for a while about the the heaters and power, as there’ll be some new changes coming up. Right now all bills are going to them, and they divide it to every apartment by the size of it & the ppl living there. In near future, everyone will get their own own counters, so it’ll be easier on everyone. Hopefully Andy and I will get some big pay backs then ;)

The annoying thing is, that the internet company still did not send a letter when they enable our internet. We really want to go home with our bunny and be home - if you know what I mean. It’s alright at my parents, but we finally want to enjoy the new place, eat what and when we want and all those things married couples do …

By the time I went down, it started getting dark. I hate driving in the dark on high speed roads (aka Autobahn). We took off and drove to my parents. Never took that long to drive this distance. As Snoopy was being short on food, we had to make a stop at the pet store across from my parents house. Luckily, they carried Snoopy’s brand and we could buy all food he needed :) He was thrilled to eat the snacks he got when we brought him home, too :)

Ooooooofffffffff

Selina | Andy, Family, me, us | Friday, 29 December 2006

Hope anyone of you blog reader missed me. I am sorry to all friends I did not email yet and possibly won’t get to until the new year. Right now, we have no internet access at our apartment, Andy needed to go to the old apartment to work. Now that we’re at my parents I am using their pc, but my emails are on my laptop at home + I am just not in the mood to do a lot with their pc.

Wednesday was the big move. Got up at 6, got ready, drove to Karlsruhe and started packing like crazy. We had to be done before the truck came with the two guys meeting us. It was a pain in the ####, but we made it. My aunt cleaned and put things in the new kitchen. My cousin was carrying stuff into the new apartment. Andy, mom and me were packing running around and stuff. I drove out to store to buy the breakfast, by the time I got back the moving crew was there and already put the washing machine in the basement. They started with the closet in the hallway. We ate and then worked. After a while my mom and I left to drive my aunt to the station. We also had to buy paint, fly gitter and things. When we got back, they were just building the living room closet which did not fit were it was supposed to, but on another spot. Minwhile Andy put the table together and tried the chairs. After another little food time, we headed to the last few things. At 3PM or so, we finally got done with everything we wanted and then could stop for the day.

Thursday was full of work again. I started wasking our clothes with the new cool washing machine, while putting things away and all. Fun fun. After Andy finsihed work, we headed to the store again to buy plastic for the floor and some other pain things. Then - at home - we started painting. What a pain. It takes forever to tape important things, then to paint. I looked all white by the time we were done with room number one.

Today was the same again: cleaning some, washing lots, painting the other room, cleaning some more, eating, driving around. I am so done with all this, I can tell you. My arms are useless, my hands are dry and itchy, I hurt and tired. And there’s still so much to do :(

As for good news, we got the hardware needed for our DSL today. Now only waiting to get the passwords etc. Hope it’s coming any day now as they said it’d be usable on the 2nd Jan …

Andy and the Turkey

Selina | Andy, Bunny, Family | Monday, 25 December 2006

Everyone is sad for losing someone (or more), so it’s not a too happy time. However, we managed to make it through the first Christmas holiday without too many probs.

Turkey is today here. And boy was it giantic. It has about 19 lbs and Andy carried it from the basement fridge into the 2nd kitchen. Just look at them both, can you figure out which is Andy and which our tasty yummy turkey?

Snoopy seemes to like it at my parents. We went to the garden with him today again, and he was running around being happy. He also enjoyed jumping out of the box, pooping on their carpet ;) and things like that.

As for good news, the key finally arrived at our landlords and alas we can move in on Wednesday. Yay. It’s about time. We’re really glad now.

Merry Christmas

Selina | Aireen, Bunny, Stitching | Sunday, 24 December 2006

Hope you will all have a wonderful holiday. We did decorated the tree, I helped my cousine with maths, we went to see Aireen and Snoopy ran outside on the leash. I am stitching a bit and Andy’s playing games & co. That’s all …

ARGH!

Selina | Gifts Exchanges & Co, School & Work, Stitching | Friday, 22 December 2006

Today was that fast talkers turn. And OH BOY! I forgot my cake and my book. Cake was not too bad as I bought some food at the backery, but my book! I could do nothing to take my mind off of his anoying talking. After 2 hours, I was so close to freak out and go crazy. I ended up going early because I just could not take it anymore. Instead, Vera and I went to the photogrametry lap and looked at some files for a report. Much more relaxing and way less anoying.

I got another three envelopes today, see a pattern there? One was my IRR coming home to me:

I also got my mag from Val (Thanks! I am thrilled! Your gift is not sent yet, sorry, not having the best time lately) and my WoXS. Some nice things in them :) It gave me the urge to stitch, but I do not know what. I am not in the best mood, so we’ll see what happenes.

Gifts were bought too, for my mom, aunt and dad. Andy bought himself stuff he wanted, and I did not buy anything at all. Just don’t feel like it though I have almost $100 I could spend all in all.

The fun begins

Selina | us | Thursday, 21 December 2006

I got three reports back today. One was fine the first time, one I have to redo the first time and another one the 2nd time. No fun. This definately made me frustrated. I so wish today would have been the last day. I just can’t anymore - I am physically and mentionally over-worn and tired. I need a break.

On the way out from home, I saw the landlord. I took the chance to ask about the couch and said we’d take it. Also asked if he knew more about the key. Apparently, the key exchange is till on the 23rd and if the apartment was left all ok, we can go in then. Please, please be!!! I also pointed out we’d move on the 27th if possible, as otherwise the time is extremely tight. He said he knew.

Anyway, Andy and I had to go to Vera’s for the moving boxes, so she invited us for diner. It was really tasty :) We (Vera, Regine and me) had some wine and played a funny game. Was good to finally meet some ppl and just laugh and have a good time. It’s been only running around lately. Vera gave Andy a peanut butter glas and a doggy savings bank. Very cute :)

What happened?

Selina | me | Wednesday, 20 December 2006

I back-dated this post as I was not able to write about it until now (22/12/2006).

My uncle was a very good man. He was always up for a joke, never left out an oportonuity to tease you in a loving way and always ready to help anyone. He loved to drink Coke and smoke cigaretts. He never went to a doctor in his life. He managed to buy and pay a wonderful home for his family 16 years ago and surely treated his wife and son with love and care. Reading, gardening and tv were some of his hobbies.

I got there at noon, saying hi to everyone. It still seemed to be so unreal. I was not even really sad. First sight of my aunt made it so darn real. She hugged me for a long, long time. Saying how much happy I made him and how much he loved me. I was just lost for words. No I knew what I wanted to say, but I just could not. After we sat down, she said the most horrible thing was that he and she could not tell each other some last words. No goodbye. He said in a chair with headaches and no 5 mins later he was gone. I think this is one of the hardest things. She also said the ER doc said even if he was standing in the house the sec it happened, there would have been nothing that he could have done.

The funeral itself was nice, esp. since it was catholic. (Most of my fam is protestant) Sun shone through a coloured window leaving a wonderful light in the church. The priest was talking ok most of the time, but sometimes I just had to shook my head. I guess I am not much of a beliefer anymore.  Lots of ppl cried. One time we were asked to think about my uncle in a silent minute, I had to smile while thinking about him. I can honestly say he’s one of the very few ppl (if not the only together with his wife - who’s my dad’s sister, btw) I have only good memories. I am thinking and thinking since days, but not a single bad memory of him comes into my mind.

We went to drink some coffee and ate some cake my aunt baked because she could not sleep. There was only one more cousine (33, 6 kids, living on social benifits, stupid as dog poop) there, and what did that jerk say? OOh, that cake tastes weird. Believe me, I would have loved to kick him where it hurts the most. I mean, how cruel can one be telling someone baking at night because she lost a loved one and were unable to sleep that the cake sucks? My aunt in shock came to me and asked me how I liked it. I said it was fine, and she was happy. She asked me if I teach her son some maths and English over Christmas, it would have been her biggest wish. Needless to say I’d do anything to make her happy. It will be fun. My mom was aked by another aunt of mine what happened to our doggy. And my mom told her, and when she made it to her last day on earth, I was like “don’t talk about it” and cried. Did that really had to be? It haunted me all day.

My aunt decided that my parents and me deserved all the left over cake. So I went home with a tasty nut cake and my parents with wonderful Christstollen. After my parents dropped me off at the station, I bought a frame and went home.

Is it Christmas already?

Selina | Gifts Exchanges & Co, Stitching | Tuesday, 19 December 2006

at least it felt like it when I came home. Why? because we (I) actually got 3 (!!) packages in the mail!

One is my finished UFO of the Topiaries. All done and ready to be framed (except for washing and buying a frame).

The next thing was a wonderful Ornament from the JAT ornament exchange. I am really thrilled with what I got :) It also had a lovely card coming with it :) Thanks Robbin :)

And - last but not least - our dining room arrived too. In three giantic boxes that will need to be carried and bulit up next week. It’s lovely (I am sure) and I cannot wait to sit on it. We only have 4 chairs, while the pic has six.

I stitched

Selina | Family, Stitching, this_and_that | Monday, 18 December 2006

*shock* ;) I worked a little bit on the Christmas fairy’s wings (that are so boring). It’s not too bad as I only stitched last night. Hope to get her done before Christmas, though the chances are not too high

We went to the internet ppl to set up our account. It’ll take about two weeks, we will be getting the hardware end of this week and a technician will come next week. It came with free hardware and the first month is for free. Yay.

Survey-wise, I made 2 bucks this morning and almost made another 3 early. The 3 buck one was about a new video game, and sadly gave us a problem with a video and alas we did not qualify. The screen shots we saw were pretty awesome. However, making with surveys 5 bucks aday every day would be awesome, though I do not see it happening.

Good news, I just got an email with picture that my UFO of the Topiraries are done :) It’s looking incredible and will come back to me hopefully before Christmas. Might make a wonderful Christmas gift for my mom and dad.

We have been out

Selina | this_and_that, us | Sunday, 17 December 2006

Andy and I went out last night. Tried to get to the internet folks, but they were closed by the time we got there. Ate at the Greek restaurant. It was a pain, as we were seated next to a group of crazy ppl and their kids ran around during the restaurant. After that, we went to see a comedian. Not because of disrespect to my uncle or because I do not care or anything, but because we had the tickets for 6 months and there was no way to sell them on such a short notice. We thought about just not going, but 30 bucks each made us go and see what we paid for. He was really funny as usual, talking about the usual all-day probelms, together with anti-female and stuff. We came home after 11 and then went to bed.

Our (paid) survey journey continues. So far, one company gave us about 3 tiny little surveys (value 130 points) and another one a little one for 35 points. Not incredible much, but one does not get rich from it, it’s only a little bonus. Very little so far, I may add. After only a week, I guess one can’t expect too much yet. More to come next weekend.

EDIT to add: now that the servers are finally back on, after a 5+ hours of being down, I can report my first achievement. For a little survey about paper (hosted by the paper company) we’re supposed to get a 10 bucks gift certificate for amazon.com within the next 3 weeks. Not too bad for answering a few simple questions (was actually just clicking on the answer, no typing) for about 5 mins.

Selina | Family | Friday, 15 December 2006

Please say a prayer to my aunt Sonja and my cousine Frank, who just loved their beloved husband and father Werner.

Frank does not know yet as he was/currently is at a friend and my aunt (and another aunt+hubby) thought it’s for the best until the ppl come and take the body away :(

Werner was out to play some cards, come home and did some cleaning. He told my aunt that he was having a headache. Fell down and was dead :(

I can’t believe he’s gone, neither can anyone who knew him. He was always up to a joke and funny going guy. He’ll be greatly missed.

Yay

Selina | Gifts Exchanges & Co, School & Work, this_and_that | Thursday, 14 December 2006

Yes. I saved everyone. Last night I posted about the subject not being assigned to me. I went to the guy today, and it turned out that no one could have assigned it as it was basically non-existing in the database. So, because I said something, they fixed it and all is ok now :)

I still do not know about the gift certificate I sent my friend for her b-day today. I guess I will email and ask. Hope she got it today.

I joined about 4 survey sites and will see how it works. If it really works, I will let you know, so you can join in too. Cross your fingers for me :)

Oh boy

Selina | Gifts Exchanges & Co, School & Work, me | Wednesday, 13 December 2006

I do not think anyone actually remember that I had problems last year to sign up for my exams. They do it online and I had one test the third time which is usually not allowed. Anyway, this time I have one test that I need to write again, and it was not assigned to me - which is actually not possible as it is a MUST DO for me. I can’t get out. Anyway, I went in and assigned it to myself together with some social class. I signed out thinking all was fine. Then today, I thought “ooh, maybe I should check it again, just to be on the safe side”. Well, I am signed up for the 2nd time test and the social test and almost all other tests, but it kicked me out of Sat Geodesy. This is so annoying. Now I can go there tomorrow and ask if they can assign it to me (I can’t do it anymore as the time frame is over) and also ask what/if/why I was not assigned to the other test. Wish me luck.

I was also trying to get a GC from Silkweaver for a friend of mine and it screwed up on the check out. So I had to pay manually. Hopefully she’ll get it soon. Days like this are so annoying and making me generally depressed because I am not one handling problems of any kind too well :(

:)

Selina | Gifts Exchanges & Co | Wednesday, 13 December 2006

Look what a lovely gift we received today:

We’re thrilled. Thank you so much, Val :) We love it. And hey - it did fit onto the tree. I’d never let it be somewhere else :)

This and that

Selina | Bunny, Gifts Exchanges & Co, School & Work | Monday, 11 December 2006

School was so boring. I was so tired and bored, but I did not chew on my nails/hair (hear that, snoopy?!). I happened to be quite in pain after playing Wii Sports with Andy last night. Can hardly move correctly ;)

I went to the pet store after school and bought bunny food. Also some winter hay (with apple), treats, health stuff and a leash. While being there, I actually saw a bunny like Snoopy, but a lot smaller … which lead me wonder if either Snoopy is much bigger than this bunny will ever be OR he is much older than 3 months. I don’t know. Either way, we like him :) They also had giantic rabbits. First time I saw rabbits that big.

Once I was home, Snoopy was the victim of testing the leash. It was rather easy getting it on him, just had to get him a treat to eat which kept him busy. I planned to carry him outside and just let him hang out for a min. I did not really made it into the kitchen when he took off (do not worry, he’s fine). After that, I decided to just put him in his BunnyMobile in which he brought him home and carry him like that outside. I went to one of our windows, unpacked bunny and let him sniff around for a bit. It was cold and I was worried ppl would come and scared him, so he was only outside for like 2 or 3 mins. He seemed to like it, though.

I received my first monthy bit of the bead club. They’re lovely :)
